Group Show: Karen Kilimnik, Glenn Ligon, Suzanne McClelland, Daniel Oates

In the month of March, Jack Hanley Gallery will present a show of works on paper by four young New York artists. The "Scatter Art" of Karen Kilimnik's drawings refers to popular culture in a personal, diaristic manner, while Daniel Oates' drawings are based on the characters from his "Happy Workers" series. Both Glenn Ligon and Suzanne McClelland use text in their work. Ligon's work explores what it means to be black in society today by stenciling texts from black literature and poetry in his work, while McClelland's abstract drawings of single words or short phrases work on both litereal and figurative levels.
